Someone We Know by Shari Lapena

Maybe you don’t know your neighbours as well as you thought you did. . . .

“I’m so sorry. My son has been getting into people’s houses. He’s broken into yours.”

In a quiet, leafy suburb in upstate New York, a teenager has been sneaking into houses–and into the owners’ computers as well. Learning their secrets, and maybe sharing some of them, too.

Who is he, and what might he have uncovered? As whispers start to circulate, suspicion mounts. And when a woman down the street is found murdered, the tension reaches its breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than they’re telling? And how far will all these very nice people go to protect their little secrets?

In this neighbourhood, it’s not just the husbands and wives who play games. Here, everyone in the family has something to hide.

Someone We Know is another fantastic thriller from bestselling author Shari Lapeña.

Lapeña always keeps me guessing to the very end. And everyone always has a secret. I love reading Lapeña’s writing, and always anxiously look forward to a new release from her.

After reading her first two books, I discovered that she is a somewhat local author, residing in Toronto, Ontario, which made me even more eager to continue reading her books.

This novel is told from the point of view of 5+ different characters. I listened to the audio recording and was able to keep track, but many readers may prefer to read the book instead of listening to it, especially since it is the same narrator throughout the novel.

Someone We Know is narrated by Kirsten Potter and the recording is just under eight hours long.

The End of Her is scheduled to be released July 23, 2020.
